I JUST CALL ON YOU – 1977
I really feel very privileged to be able to play like a producer now and then and really see the raw talent that an artist does or doesn’t have. Being involved from the first day of this album has proven to me, without a doubt, that David Meece has to be one of the most versatile talents in contemporary Christian music. And I must confess, at times, I’ve wanted to break his fingers and throw him through a screen door so he would strain his three octave voice, but my love for him and his talent have stopped me so far.
David has one of the most exciting futures of anyone I’ve known. He is seasoned with years of musical training, with the main course being his songs that are served with love, humility and a deep sense of gratitude for Jesus. I am thankful that the Lord has let me share in a small part of his ministry, which I know is only the beginning.
If this album does half to your ears what it does to mine, you’re in for an entertaining hour with David-our mutual friend. David, thanks for letting me be a part.

IT’S GONNA BE SO LOVELY

We were always having to hurry
Every time we said hello
With leaving always staring at us
We would have talked for hours
But the walls of time were there
Ever closing in on us
And our lives had boundaries
Chorus:
It’s gonna be so lovely
When we are all together
It’s gonna be so lovely
When we are all together forever- forever
I want my family beside me
But the miles are in-between where we are –
And the places we call home
(Repeat Chorus)
WITH TEARS IN MY EYES (I Just Call on You)
Words & Music by David Meece

Someone said to me, “It’s not your fault.
You’re just human like the rest.”
Still it hurts to know I let you down
It hurts to think I couldn’t stand the test
I get so caught up in my own little world
I lost perspective on the whole
And the people that I’m closest to
Become the ones that I abuse the most
– Especially You –
Chorus:
When tears are in my eyes
I know it’s easy to forget You
When pain is in my heart
It’s oh so easy to forget all the good things
It’s oh so easy to forget how You love me
It’s oh so easy to forget You
With tears in my eyes
I used to turn my head when others fell away
Because I knew they’d caused You pain
But I never thought I’d see the day
When I would have to bow my head in shame
– For I’m to blame –
(Repeat Refrain)
GOD’S LOVE

Maybe it’s hard for you to see
Thru all the tears you’re crying
Maybe the scar’s too deep for you to erase
Maybe the things that mattered most
You once held in your hand
Have all slipped away
Then maybe it’s time you realized
That nothing’s gained by hating
Maybe it’s time you put away that old lie
Maybe it’s time you gave your life a new
Chance to be free – open your eyes
Chorus:
And let God’s love guide you
Let His mighty arms surround you
Let Him fill all your sorrow
With hope for tomorrow
For the olive leaf flies with the dove
In God’s Love
So never give up your faith my friend
And let Him always guide you
Never give up no matter how dark the moon
Never give up the hope He brings will
Sustain you until –
The light shines again
Refrain:
And let God’s love guide you
Let His mighty arms surround you
Let Him fill all your sorrow
With hope for tomorrow
For the olive leaf flies with the dove
In God’s Love
You’ve gotta believe in His love –
I believe, I believe – in God’s Love
THE MAN WHO SAVED THE FOOL
Words & Music by David Meece

Never went to church, much less to school
Folks around here say I’m just a fool
Well maybe I’m just too happy or blue
To give a care about you
But I’m on my way –
And that’s all I need to do
My worn out shoes are damp with autumn rain
I know my hair and my shirt are faded gray
Well maybe it’s just not proper of me
But I think I’m gonna sing
So just sit back –
All you people – and let me be
Chorus:
La La La La La La – I bet I’m happy as you
La La La La La La – And as I walk I feel a tune
I’ll sing it now for you
‘Cause I’m making my way with
The man who saved the fool
Tears of silent joy just seem to pour
I know my wife has never seen me cry before
Well maybe she knows how happy I am
As I kneel down on the floor
‘Cause for once in my life
Through Jesus I ain’t poor no more
(Repeat Refrain)

Loving You feeling like I never thought I would
What a change I feel inside
How I want to give You everything I have
Every moment of my life
So don’t let me compromise
Don’t let the spirit hide deep inside
I want to follow You
Travel anywhere You want me to
Follow You
Travel anywhere You lead me to
Tell me which way to go
Any road that You choose
To follow You
Trusting You – climbing every mountain in my life
On a path that I can’t see
Even though I know the mountain may be high
If it starts to get too steep
Don’t let my heart grow weak
Don’t let me lose the strength
That I need if I’m to
Follow You
Travel anywhere You want me to
Follow You
Travel anywhere You lead me to
Tell me which way to go
Any road that You choose
Follow You
Lord I know that it won’t be easy
But as long as Your spirit leads me
I’ll carry on
Follow You
Travel anywhere You want me to
Follow You
Travel anywhere You lead me to
Follow You
IN THE MORNING (I Just Call on You)
Words & Music by David Meece

When the day is done
Shadows appear – darkness has come
Then ‘till the dawning sun
Yes ‘till the morning
He’ll be my light – my day
Yes ‘till the morning
He’ll be my guide
Wounds of the night are deep
Pathways are dark – mountains are steep
Then He will soothe my fear
And ‘till the morning
He’ll be my light – my day
Yes’ till the morning
He’ll be my guide – and my stay
And in right paths He leads me
For His own name’s sake
Paths of righteousness
For His own name’s sake
And when the night is done
Shadows of fear – burst in the sun
He will restore my soul
And in the morning
He’ll be my light – my day
Yes in the morning
Yes in the morning
Yes in the morning
He’ll be my stay
COLD OCTOBER RAIN (I Just Call On You)
Words & Music by David Meece
Copyright 1977 Meece Music (admin by) WORD Music
Put out the candle
Take off your robe
And I’ll take you to that river
Where the living waters flow
Outside it’s cold and raining
And this old church is warm
So there ain’t no need to hurrying
On that long and final march
Refrain:
‘Cause it’s gonn be a long, long time to winter
But it’s gonna be a longer time to spring
So I can’t imagine why
You are leaving here tonight
With that cold October rain in your eye
With that cold October rain in your eye
Put down your rifle
Take off your sword
There ain’t no need in dying
If you don’t know what for
I don’t offer you money
I just offer my time
I’m the One Who died forgiving
To bring You peace of mind
Refrain:
And it’s gonna be a long, long time to winter
But it’s gonna be a longer time to spring
So I can’t imagine why
You are leaving here tonight
With that cold October rain in your eye
With that cold October rain in your eye
LOVE YOUR BROTHER
Words & Music by David Meece
Copyright 1977 Meece Music (admin by) WORD Music
Chorus:
Love your brother – love your sister
Love the one who’s down and out
Give a chance for those in trouble
Give a chance for a perfect harmony
Take some time out – in your life today
And the world will seem so much brighter
Take some time out in your life today
And you’ll find some peace of mind
(repeat chorus)
Well it’s a very nice day
For holdin’ hands and walkin’
It’s a very nice day
For holdin’ hands again
It’s a very nice day
For walkin’ through the woodlands
So take your brother
Lead ‘ em by the hand
Well sing your song to the world
Yea and sing your song to their sad lullabies
To all the people that live in wrong
To all the people that’s singin’ songs
Have – got to sing it my way
Well it’s a very nice day
For holdin’ hands and walkin’
It’s a very nice day
For walkin’ through the woodlands
So take your brother
Lead ‘em by the hand
Chorus:
Love your brother – love your sister
Love the one who’s down and out
Give a chance for those in trouble
Give a chance for a perfect harmony
Take some time out – in your life today
And the world will seem so much brighter
Take some time out in your life today
And you’ll find some peace of mind
DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE
Words & Music by David Meece
Copyright 1977 Meece Music (admin by)WORD Music
Do you know what it’s like
To have someone who loves you –
Who cares for you
And when you’re full of doubt
To have someone hold your hand
And say “Don’t let it bother you –
Don’t let it worry you anymore”
Well I do –
Do you know what it’s like to have someone who trusts you
Who believes in you
And when you’re down and out
To have someone cry for you
And when your song is a broken tune
Come make the melody brand new –
Well I do –
Somewhere – you’ve got to believe that
There’s someone else besides yourself
Somewhere – you’ve got to perceive that
All you know is not all there is
Then you’d know what it’s like
To have someone who loves you
Who cares for you
And you’d know what it’s like
To have someone die for you
For someone did that for me
And what’s more – when He died for me
He did the same –
For you
